Swedes see learning as a life-long pursuit and adult education is thriving. It is possible to take courses in practically everything and the government encourages this with generous grants for ‘study circles’. In fact, you can set up your own study circle and if you can prove that there are enough of you, meeting regularly to study a certain subject together, you too would be entitled to a grant. A few big organisations run nationwide classes but also check out your locality for further options – schools and community centres will probably also have some classes organised.
