While most Swedes speak great English, it soon becomes clear that knowledge of Swedish helps enormously. While it is possible to live in the country for years with no Swedish at all, a good knowledge of the language does help practically in finding jobs and socially in understanding the culture and even just in making friends. Fortunately, as with all areas of education, the Swedes have a well set-up language education system for immigrants.
