Getting Around Sweden

As a resident of Sweden, much of your travel will likely be local in which case the most practicable solution for the vast majority of the country is a car.

While you can operate quite comfortably in cities such as Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö without one, in most other areas you will discover much more if you have one.

Public transport systems are good – planes, trains and buses tend to run on time and are relatively good value. However, because the country is so big and the population so sparse, not everywhere is accessible by public transport and sometimes the services can be limited.

Access for physically impaired visitors is generally very good. Public transport has to be wheel chair accessible which also makes it very accessible for families moving about with young children in strollers.
